Welcoming Fall with Warm Memories and Creative Moments

Another summer has come and gone, and as we embrace the crisp air and golden hues of fall, we look back on a month filled with sunshine, laughter, and meaningful connections.

We made the most of the last days of summer with one final boating trip on Heaven Can Wait, touring the stunning Okanagan Lake. It’s always a highlight of the season and such a gift to have this special experience available to our seniors each summer. Along with the lake adventure, we also enjoyed outdoor games at our seniors drop-in program, including ladder ball and bocce. Staying active is so important as we age, and these fun, low-impact activities are a great way to keep our bodies moving while enjoying time with friends.

This month, we were also treated to a live music day, welcoming two talented guests who played guitar and filled the room with classic tunes. It was heartwarming to see so many of our seniors singing along, reminiscing about the days when those songs were brand new. Music continues to be a powerful way to spark joyful memories and build connections.

To welcome the fall season, we got creative with some festive crafting. We made beautiful fall wreaths, with leaves and pinecones scattered across the tables, and plenty of laughter as glue guns worked their magic. Later in the month, we came together for another creative project—soup in a jar. Each participant layered dry ingredients for a hearty five-bean soup, decorated their jars, and added recipe tags. These jars are not only a delicious meal ready to go, but they also make wonderful gifts.

As we settle into fall, we look forward to more cozy, creative, and community-focused moments together.
