6th Annual Lumby and District Emergency Services Fight Back against Hunger Food drive supporting the Lumby Food Bank.
At 5:00pm, Emergency Service vehicles drove throughout the village of Lumby and the surrounding community with sirens wailing and lights flashing. Following behind in personal vehicles to gather the non perishable food items were emergency service men and women, kids, and members of the community. When the items arrived at the food bank, volunteers weighed and stacked the bags as they were delivered.
Local community member, RCMP Const. Gary McLaughlin has been organizing this very important food drive since 2014 for the village.
Robert Wilkinson, President of the Food Bank says that this is “an important food drive, it helps to fill our shelves before the winter and Christmas which is especially hard on people”. He continues, “It never ceases to amaze me of how generous and giving the people in our community are”.
The Lumby Food Bank:
Is 100% non-profit and strictly run on volunteer service
Relies on and is heavily supported by our local businesses, community and volunteers
Has made the commitment to be available to everyone who needs it.
