Lumby’s United Church family wishes to express sincere gratitude to all those that shared our 125 Anniversary celebration on Saturday, August 7th. Even the uncertainty of fire alerts was not able to dampen the enthusiasm of those who helped us celebrate. Although Wayne Christian, Chief of Splatsin First Nation, was unable to attend he kindly took the time to express his regrets. Rick Fairburn, Eric Foster and Eric’s charming wife Janice attended adding a little political sparkle to the festivities.
Donna Easto dressed in a stunning replica of historical garb acted as our tour guide. She impressed everyone with her presentation of the church history and very welcoming manner.
Our amazing twin sisters Margaret Derry & Marguerite Dahlmann were present. The Double M Duo welcomed all of our friends and supporters in the hall for cake & coffee/tea.
Selma Hladych, our resident celebration-cake-maker impressed with a huge 3 layer cake with Lemon frosting. No calorie counting allowed!
We were extremely happy to have Rev. Robin Jacobson of Trinity United Church Vernon attend our church service on Sunday August 8, 2021.
Again, thanks to all that attended. And for those who were unable to attend, you are very welcome any Sunday to join us for fellowship and a little fun. If you’re too shy to attend church service alone we have a lunch after service from noon until about 1:30. Enter by the Park Street entrance for coffee and friendly conversation.
