Spring into Good Times

March was filled with fun and laughter with the seniors at Saddle Mountain. We enjoyed trivia games, exercise classes, a fun beach themed day, and special visitors. Although the weather was unpredictable this month, one thing was for certain; the lounge at Saddle Mountain was filled with smiles and happiness.

This month started off with special visits from a grade 4/5 split class from J.W. Inglis, with four welcomed visits in total. The students and seniors shared stories and jokes with one another as we played games and did crafts. A few of the games we all played were Rummoli, Uno, and Jenga. Jenga was by far a huge fan favourite with all ages.  We even did an art day, using scratch art to create lovely pictures and keepsakes.  These intergenerational days with the children and the seniors were filled with many special moments.

We had two craft days this month. In order to help ward off any lingering colds, we made vapour rub shower bombs. We molded them in ice cube trays and then stored them in ziplock bags in the freezer. All you have to do is pull one out the next time you have a shower! At the very end of the month we did a painting craft creating wooden stars and hearts.

March 26th was National Make your own Holiday Day. We decided we needed some more sunshine in our lives so we celebrated with a beach day. Everyone was encouraged to dress up in beach attire, Hawaiian shirts or a fun beach hat. The lounge was decorated with palm trees, tropical flowers, and beach balls. We transported ourselves to someplace tropical for the day and played balloon volleyball before dining on scrumptious mushroom Swiss burgers.

April is shaping up to be another month full of fun events, delicious meals, engaging games, educational presentations, crafty projects and live music!  Please reach out and call us for more information about our senior programs and volunteer opportunities at Whitevalley Community Resource Centre please give us a call at 250-547-8866.
