Welcome to Colleen’s Corner. This is a column meant for fun and some information About myself: I am a Freelance Photographer you often see me on the side of the road or in various places taking photos of different things animals, birds, places, people etc. l have lived in Lumby just over 8 years you have seen my photos in the newspaper (Lumby Valley Times) and once in awhile in the Vernon Morning Star, and the Lumby Art Gallery. Photography is my passion. Disclaimer: The information on some of my photos that I write about a lot of times come from the Internet or books I research them, hopefully the facts are as close to the truth as I can come.
As most of you know, I do a lot of different crafts. Since I have been on vacation in Arizona this past winter I have learned how to make crafts that are new to me. Being in the land of Quartz and Crystals that can be found on the ground especially after a good rain storm, they also have an amazing store here called Gem World which has quartz and crystals that I have never seen or heard of before. They are kind of pricey of course as they are a store that is only open a couple months of the year, but wow, the collections they have in there are quite beautiful.
I am now making some items out of Quartzs and Crystals. Some of them are a lot of fun, some like anything are very time consuming. Most of what I am making at this time, sparkles and shines in the sunlight, which of course is what I like. I am sure I told you the story before that probably 10 lives or more I was probably a dog, as when being in a car I like the windows down so I can feel the breeze going through my hair, and in 15 lives or more I was probably a Crow; Sparkly/Shiny whoosh. I of course have to look at it or pick it up to add to my other sparkly /shiny items. I am sure this is the reason why I also like glitter so much. Speaking of glitter I have found a new way to use glitter on the resin items I make. So many new discoveries since I have been away, I hope that I can share most of them with you.
A new discovery for both Tim and I. We have more color to us than just lily white. Yup, you guessed it, we both have a tan on our arms and legs that we have never seen before without even trying. Usually our arms tan, but never our legs. It’s kind of weird seeing that our legs are brown when we sit in our chairs outside. 8 Out of 10 times we can sit outside enjoying the sun, but there are some days when that is not possible. The wind came the other day with gusts up to 40-50 MPH so we stayed inside that day, and night. The motorhome was rocking and swaying most of the time. Sometimes the wind was so strong I thought we might tip over, which of course we didn’t. I was very glad about that. Although, at one point we had to take the dogs out and the wind was so strong it broke the strut on both ends on the screen door, something else to replace when we get home.
When the rain comes here you don’t want to be outside in that either, it’s not like the spring showers we sometimes get in Lumby, nope, it’s quite the downpour some places get flooded out. We have been fairly lucky in that area we haven’t been anywhere near the floods.
Ahh, but when the sun shines we are outside enjoying it with of course our sunglasses on. As you know it’s always a good day when you can wear sunglasses!
