Verle Moore was born June 18, 1895 and came to Lumby to teach primary school in 1940.  She was married to Tom Moore in 1917 and had 2 children Terry (born 1918) and Thomas (born 1919). Her classroom was always filled with interesting things – hens, chicks, rabbits, turtles, gardens and all things “art” – anything that would interest her students.  She was instrumental in forming the Lumby Art Group, the Lumby Golf Club and the Lumby Curling Rink.  She died in 1991 and rests in the Lumby Cemetry.
