Lumby Community Cleanup Returns for Third Annual Event

The third annual Lumby Community Cleanup is set to take place on Saturday, April 25, bringing together residents of all ages to help keep the community clean, safe, and beautiful.

Hosted by Grow and Behold Digital and co-sponsored by Jitterbeans and Earth Elements, the event invites community members to take part in a town-wide cleanup effort. Volunteers will help collect garbage and debris from local areas including the Salmon Trail, school yards, parks, and side streets.

Participants are asked to meet at the Freshmart parking lot at 10:00 AM for a kickoff gathering, where they can pick up supplies and get oriented. For those unable to attend right at the start time, supplies will be available for pickup anytime between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM, allowing for flexible participation throughout the day.

All cleanup materials, including garbage bags and gloves, will be provided, and organizers will handle disposal of the collected waste. The event is family-friendly and open to all ages, making it an easy and meaningful way for individuals, families, and groups to give back to the community.

The event was founded out of a passion for environmental stewardship. “After living in Vancouver and participating in many beach cleanups, I wanted to bring that same sense of community care back to Lumby,” says the event organizer Renee Sutton. “We’re so lucky to have beautiful trails, wildlife, and outdoor spaces here, and this is a way for all of us to help protect and support them.”

In previous years, volunteers collected multiple large bags of garbage from around town, and organizers are hopeful for an even greater impact this year. Community members are encouraged to come out, get involved, and help make a visible difference in Lumby.
