If You Are Afraid Of Big Things, Don’t Go There

Welcome to Colleen’s Corner. This is a column meant for fun and some information About myself: I am a Freelance Photographer you often see me on the side of the road  or in various places taking photos of different things animals, birds, places, people etc.  l have lived in Lumby just over 8 years you have seen my photos in the newspaper (Lumby Valley Times) and once in awhile in the Vernon Morning Star, and the Lumby Art Gallery. Photography is my passion. Disclaimer:  The information on some of my photos that I write about a lot of times come from the Internet or books I research them, hopefully the facts are as close to the truth as I can come.

When we went to Drumheller Alberta a couple of weeks ago, not did we only go to the Royal Tyrrell Museum but we also took a walk around Drumheller where they have the world’s largest Dinosaur which they call Tyra. She stands 86 feet tall, 151 feet long, she weighs 65 tons, she is 4.5 times bigger than a real T-Rex would have been, she cost a fortune to build $1,065,000.00 and took about 3 years to complete. Inside of the dinosaur is 106 stairs to climb to see the world from her mouth, we didn’t climb those stairs but were just as impressed from the outside.

On our walk there were dinosaurs everywhere, some were on the people’s  grass, some were sitting on the benches that are on the street corners. Almost every business had a dinosaur somewhere on their roofs or buildings. Tim and I got a lot of fun shots of each other sitting with the dinosaurs on the benches. The ones in the people yards were awesome, one place had a large one made entirely out of wire, it stood about 12 feet tall and really long, it was pretty cool.

It was at times a little overwhelming with a dinosaur here and a dinosaur there, but it was still a lot of fun. I would probably go there again, after all I might have missed something the first time.
