Welcome to Colleen’s Corner. This is a column meant for fun and some information About myself: I am a Freelance Photographer you often see me on the side of the road or in various places taking photos of different things animals, birds, places, people etc. l have lived in Lumby over 8 years you have seen my photos in the newspaper (Lumby Valley Times) and once in awhile in the Vernon Morning Star, and the Lumby Art Gallery. Photography is my passion. Disclaimer: The information on some of my photos that I write about a lot of times come from the Internet or books I research them, hopefully the facts are as close to the truth as I can come.
On Sunday the weather was fairly good, and so were the roads. There was no snow, slush, or other wet stuff on the roads; they were very clear and dry. So we went for a Sunday drive. Of course I took my camera hoping to find some wildlife or bird shots.
We drove towards Vernon, I saw a couple of birds in the air, but that was about it.
We then drove to Coldstream Cemetery, usually there are some good shots there, but once again nothing.
So, we went down Westside Road to possibly find some wild sheep climbing on the rocks, but nope, nothing there either. I guess the sheep didn’t read the signs that showed a picture of a ram and said for 25 km. It was kind of disappointing to go everywhere and not find anything.
As we were nearing the end of Westside Road, finally something caught my eye, it was the rocks where water had frozen to them giving the impression of a frozen waterfall. Although I have seen this on my travels before, these ones looked a bit different they were quite impressive, so of course I took their pictures. After a few shots were taken we continued towards home, then I saw an Eagle in a tree on the driver’s side as I was the passenger but could not get a good picture of it, as there was no place to pull over and there were cars behind us. Then near Kenkraft we saw a Pheasant wandering around, I was able to get a couple pictures of it before it moved on.
As you all know I love taking pictures of almost anything, but sometimes there’s just no picture to be taken.
Aw well, all is not lost. I know I will find some good pictures soon to share with you.
