Father’s Day is More Than Dad Jokes

Sunday June 16th is Father’s Day this year; as well as Lumby Days which also hosts a car show among other fun activities for Dads to enjoy.

Dads have long been known for their punny Dad jokes, but the term Dad jokes didn’t become popular until the 1980s. The term was coined in an article in written by John Kalbaugh in The Gettiesburg Times with his article titled “Don’t ban the ‘Dad’ jokes; preserve and revere them”.

A Dad joke is generally a cheesy one-liner or a pun that is often predictable and simple. Often, they are used as a way to connect or make light of a situation in a fun way.

Here are some Dad jokes for Father’s Day

  • Why don’t scientists trust atoms? Because they make up everything.
  • I’m reading a book on anti-gravity? It’s impossible to put down.
  • Why did the bicycle fall over? Because it was two-tired.
  • Why did the coffee file a police report? Because it got mugged.
  • What does a baby computer call his father? Data.
  • Where do pirates get their hooks? Second hand stores.
  • The difference between a numerator and a denominator is a short line. Only a fraction of people will understand this.
  • Wanna hear a joke about paper? Never mind. It’s tearable.
  • How do you make a tissue dance? Put a boogie in it.
  • A century ago two brothers decided it was possible to fly. They were Wright.
  • What happened when a frog parks illegally? It gets toad.
  • When does a joke become a Dad joke? When it becomes apparent

We hope that all the Fathers and Father figures in our lives have a wonderful Father’s Day and keep us laughing and groaning with the humour they bring into our lives.
