How Do You Tame A Wild Hare? Wear An Easter Bonnet!
It never ceases to amaze me at how quickly the days go by and therefore the weeks as well. So much is going on in the world and most of it totally astounds me and a lot of it dismays me. The braying donkey to our south and his minions are one of the most disturbing with their arrogance and greed. Now the Vice President has referred to a great nation to the east as nation of peasants. How untrue and unspeakably rude when considering the actions of themselves. I would rather be from a nation of so called peasants then from a nation of obvious morons. War in other nations is heart breaking and so wrong. The annihilation of Palestine and its citizens by a nation that throughout history has been abused makes it obvious that they have switched sides of right and wrong and now are the abusers. I guess they learned well. When Trump was purging the US of A of undocumented and documented people I had a dream that many Americans were trying to make a move to Canada and they were all Doctors and Nurses. It looks like my dream is coming true as many Doctors and Nurses are looking to head north. A bright side to all this unnecessary stress and fear.
Easter is upon us and for many it will be a time of trial. It is recognized and celebrated in many ways by many faiths. I hope we will enjoy it with family and friends. The day after Easter Monday is Earth Day. Earth Day is held on the 22nd of April and has become a growing movement that has no religious affiliation, no racial boundary and no other exclusionary boundary. This is a celebration for all and a call for everyone to educate themselves and others and to do something good for the world we live in.
This years theme is Our Power, Our Planet a celebration to unite us in a quest for renewable energy. A Year of Peace and Trust. The colours of this years celebration are Red to enhance Motivation and Enthusiasm. Green for balance and renewal and Purple for creativity and clarity. These colours should be used to attract Positive Energy and Good Fortune. There will be many gatherings and events throughout the Okanagan one being at the Vernon Museum as well as a tea being held at the Mackie Lake House on Kidston Rd. In Coldstream.
People will be uniting to clean up communities, parks, roadsides and other area that need some attention. We should all be thinking of ways we can contribute to this years theme be it by changing over to energy efficient lighting and appliances, making yard and garden chemical free, planting pollinator plants, planting a tree and inspiring others to do the same.
Every effort no matter how small is a step toward making our world a better place for ourselves and our children and the future. Find a way to take part!
Happy Gardening!
