Beauty in the Sky

Welcome to Colleen’s Corner. This is a column meant for fun and some information About myself: I am Colleen Fielding, a Freelance Photographer you often see me on the side of the road  or in various places taking photos of different things animals, birds, places, people etc.  l have lived in Lumby just over 8 years, you have seen my photos in the newspaper (Lumby Valley Times) and once in awhile in the Vernon Morning Star, and the Lumby Art Gallery. Photography is my passion. Disclaimer:  The information on some of my photos that I write about a lot of times come from the Internet or books I research them, hopefully the facts are as close to the truth as I can come.

How many times have you been outside while the sun is setting, and you looked up the sky and saw how beautiful this was? Most sunsets are absolutely stunning. Here in Lumby we have very awesome sunsets. I love being outside during this time, with my camera. I tend to take quite a few pictures of the sunset as it changes so fast. Wherever I go I have my camera with me, I have seen some amazing sunsets not only in Lumby but everywhere I go.

Have you ever you been to Goderich Ontario? If not put it on your bucket list as this is home to not only one Sunset, but two. Yes, that is right I said two sunsets. They are spectacular.

About 30 years or so ago I was in North Dakota wow what a sunset there.

When the beautiful sun of the day starts to dip, the light of the sun will travel at a longer distance. When this happens, the atmospheric particles will then act like a beautiful prism, and then will refract the light. You may see the red, orange, and pink hues in the sky. this is sunset is also called sun down. It is hard to see the blues and greens in the sky at this time as these colors have a shorter wavelength, and they scatter too much to be seen with the naked eye.

Sometimes the skies in the evening do not always have the orange, pink and red hues. When there is rain or snow or a wicked storm coming the sky then can be grey, white or black, however the sky looks at this time in the evening I will be out taking pictures of it.

In the next little while if you haven’t really been out when the sunsets, grab your camera, and go outside take some pictures of the sky. Don’t have a camera? That’s okay you can still go out and take in the glory and the wonderment of the sky.
