Bats In The Belfry

True spring is finally here although with the variations in our weather from snow to rain it some days It’s hard to tell. I saw my first Robin the other day and a few trees and shrubs are now showing signs of life. It looks like March is not going out like a Lion as temperatures continue to climb unlike what is predicted for provinces to the east of us that will experience much cooler weather.

This will suit the atmosphere for the politicians who now are in a race that will be decided by our vote on April 28th. Prepare for a lot of mud slinging by at least one of the running parties that will grow to a crescendo of what will sound like group of braying donkeys. Do not listen to most of this noise but get out and seek the truth and do get out to vote for the party that will do the best to represent your desires for our country. Speaking of braying donkeys, Trumps idle threats and comments regarding our becoming the 51st state are just the idle threats and bullying tactics that are meant to be insulting. It will never happen and it has only united us as a country! The people who are refusing to buy products from the United States is strong and growing and although this only hurts the American people hopefully they can unite to rid themselves from the stranglehold that this man has put on the people who count. Better done sooner than later. Elon Musk too must go. What a nut bar he’s turned out to be I’m so disappointed in him and his actions. Although many of us would be pleased to see him go to Mars I do not think that malicious damage should be done to vehicles that are owned by Canadian citizens. This is not fair and not productive to punish people who bought these vehicles with their hard earned money and with the thought of doing good for the environment.  Anger can be vented in a much more suitable and productive manner.

I have had the honour of getting to know a gentleman who has advised me in a matter of Bats in My Belfry. Although Bats are not the normal pest this man deals with his advice and wealth of knowledge have been of great assistance and with the influx of Rats over the last few years is the man I would recommend for pests of many varieties. If you have a problem with rodents and other pests I highly recommend Artie from Bugman Pest Control 250 503 8997. Bats are a protected species and well they should be for the incredible job the do in mosquito control. If you have them in buildings or areas that you do not want them now is the time to act as they leave their summerhouses for the winter and time is running out to find the holes that they will return to and seal them up. They will find other homes for the upcoming season. They are harmless as a rule and unlike other pests do no harm to your garden plants, shrubs or trees but you don’t want them filling up walls in your home with guano. Please refrain from using poisons for your unwanted guests as this can have serious effects on other birds, wildlife, children and household pests.

For those who are starting their own plants for the garden almost all can be started by now except for your Squash family seeds and cucumber. Starting a few seeds for your yard is very rewarding and a wonderful to introduce gardening to your children.

Happy Gardening!
