Call for Artists: Lumby Days Art show and Photography contest!

The Monashee Arts Council is thrilled to invite artists and photographers to participate in this year’s vibrant Lumby Days celebration, taking place June 13–15. Cantered around the inspiring theme “Peace & Love,” the upcoming art show calls on creators of all styles and mediums (except photography) to explore ideas of harmony, compassion, and unity. Whether abstract or realistic, each submission should reflect the transformative power of love and peace in both personal and global contexts.

Artists are encouraged to submit ready-to-hang pieces (with picture wire) by June 7 at 4 PM to the Village Gallery. There is a $5 entry fee per piece, which goes toward the People’s Choice Award. Artwork drop-off for the show is scheduled for June 13, from 9–11 AM at the Whitevalley Community Centre Hall. (no photos

In addition, the annual Photography Contest is back with eight exciting categories for both adults and youth (under 16), plus two special Challenge categories ($2/entry). All photo entries must also be submitted by June 7 at 4 PM at the Village Gallery. Prizes will be awarded to judges’ top picks, and the public can vote for their favourites in the People’s Choice Award.

Don’t miss this opportunity to share your creative voice and be part of a community celebration of peace, love, and artistic expression. Follow the Monashee Arts Council on social media for updates and prize announcements.

This exhibit is more than a display of talent — it’s a reminder to all of us of why we start creating in the first place. In every brushstroke, pencil line, and photo frame, these young artists express wonder, curiosity, and the courage to share their ideas with the world. Whether it’s a crayon drawing or a mixed-media sculpture, each piece speaks to the joy of discovery and the freedom to imagine without limits.

So come show your support to our young creative’s as they reveal for some their first steps in their artistic journeys!

Submissions are still open so if you know a young artist who missed the deadline come in with your art!
