Artbeat – Arts & Culture from the Edge – July 24, 2020

The Monashee Arts Council is putting out a call to local artists who have created works during the past four months of the pandemic.  The show will be mounted on Sunday, August 2nd and will run from August 3-29, 2020 at The Village Gallery.  Photography, paintings, drawings, and a limited amount of 3D art will be accepted.  To enter please submit a photo of your piece and a brief statement about it to the Monashee Arts Council either via email ( or in person at 1975 Vernon Street (The Village Gallery/MAC office) on or before Wednesday, July 29th at noon.  Accepted entries will be received at the Monashee Arts Council office on Friday, July 31st (10am-4pm) and we require those participants to purchase or renew their MAC membership at that time to take part in the show.

We’re Back!!!  The Monashee Arts Council office/Village Gallery has reopened – we are open Monday-Saturday from 10am to 4pm.  Our first gallery show is by the amazing QuArtz Art group and features several amazing pieces of fabric art that have been created to incorporate tea bags into the works. It is a truly stunning exhibition!  Make sure you stop by to see the artwork in person… the show runs until the end of July. (COVID-19 safety precautions in place)

The Arts Matter! Many people turned to the arts for some company and solace over the past few months, either by watching/listening online or by creating & sharing themselves.  Here’s a big round of applause to the many artists from all walks of life who remained committed to sharing in whatever ways they could and to all those who have been supporting them!

Stay healthy. Be safe.
